generations of tradition
My paternal grandparents lived in this area of Tennessee, on their own homestead of 832 acres. They worked hard, raised their children, had a strong faith in God, and never waivered.

We don't have the 832 acres my Grandfather had, but we do have a small piece of raw land, in comparison. We are starting from scratch, and will build our sustainable homestead on top of our ridge.

We have no idea...
how long this endeavor will take. We've looked at housing options, and continue to try to find what will work best for us. At this time, we're leaning toward a log home. We'll keep you updated as things progress, and will be initiating our YouTube channel soon.
generations of traditions
Samuel B. Byrd and Roxanne Silver Byrd met and married in the late 1800's. After moving from place to place, they ultimately settled on their homestead in Winfield, Tennessee. To the left is a photograph taken on their farm in Tennessee. These are my grandparents, with my Uncle Andrew Sine (with the hoe). I don't have many memories of my grandparents, but my sister and cousins have wonderful memories to share with me. With family remaining in this area of Tennessee, my husband and I are returning to my roots. It's been quite a journey, and invite you to join us.
I've been told that my grandmother was quite the cook, and fed her family well. She canned everything possible, as did her daughters. My sister lived with my grandparents for awhile, and she has vivid memories of living on the homestead. I look forward to sharing these experiences with you as well.
Needless to say, recipes from my grandmother will be shared, as well as occasional videos. You're invited to follow along, or cook along, and look forward to the beginning.
Thanks, again, for stopping by.
